Symphony No. 4 - Dmitri Shostakovich

Information about Symphony No. 4 by Dmitri Shostakovich, and the best recordings available on CD or for download.

After composing the work Shostakovich withdrew it, and it was not premiered until 1961. It has become regarded as one of Shostakovich's most important symphonies.

The work was written in 1935-36, and is in the key of C minor. It consists of three movements lasting a total of approximately 60 minutes.
