The first of the Paris Symphonies (numbers 82-87), so called because they were commissioned by the Concert de la Loge Olympique in Paris.
It was nicknamed "The Bear" because the last movement sounds like the street music traditionally used to accompany dancing bears.
The work was written in 1786, and is in the key of C major.
